New technical director for Toro Rosso
Cosworths Alex Hitzinger has been appointed as Toro Rossos new technical director. Hitzinger will take over the role previously held by Gabriele Tredozi from the start of November.
Hitzinger will be based at Toro Rossos Italian factory in Faenza and will simultaneously serve as head of advanced technologies for Red Bulls entire Formula One operation. The 35 year-old German will research new technologies, including assessing energy recovery for future use in Formula One racing.
Hitzinger has been at Cosworth since 2000, firstly as head of their Ford world rally programme, and then as head of Formula One development, which this year has seen him work with the Cosworth-powered Toro Rosso and Williams teams. Prior to that, he was employed by Toyota on their rally and Formula One projects.
