Vietoris to make debut with BMW Sauber 22 Nov 2007
German teenager Christian Vietoris is to enjoy his first taste of Formula One power this week, testing for BMW Sauber in Valencia. Vietoris's drive is a reward for winning the 2006 Formula BMW World Finals.
The 18 year-old is expected to take to the Spanish track on Thursday, the day before this years contest gets underway. During the three-day event, 35 drivers, selected from the four international Formula BMW series, will battle it out for the chance to test for the team next year.
As well as Vietoris, BMW touring car driver Augusto Farfus will get the opportunity to drive the F1.07. Brazilian Farfus finished fourth in this years World Touring Car Championship.
In his first year, Augusto Farfus has settled extremely well into our BMW fold and is already a fully integrated member of BMW Team Germany, explained BMW Motorsport director Mario Theissen. In recognition of Augusto's achievements, we want to give him the chance to test our Formula One car for a few hours in the run-up to the Formula BMW World Final.
Theissen and BMW Sauber race driver Nick Heidfeld will be in attendance at the Spanish track to watch the action unfold from November 23-25.
