A man named Rahal is to get back behind the wheel of a Formula One car. Graham Rahal, son of ex-F1 driver and former Jaguar team principal Bobby, will demonstrate a BMW Sauber next month when the team’s Pit Lane Park attraction lands in Las Vegas, USA.

"It's a great thrill for me to be driving a Formula One car even though it's not on a proper racing circuit," said the 18-year-old American, who will get to blast along a specially-prepared 90-metre straight. "It has been a dream of mine to drive an F1 car and I can't thank BMW enough for giving me this opportunity.”

Rahal, whose father made two Formula One starts with Wolf back in 1978, began his single-seater career in 2004 in Formula BMW USA. He led the Toyota Atlantic series in wins and poles in 2006 before graduating to the Champ Car World Series in 2007, becoming the youngest driver ever to claim a podium in the series in only his third race.

BMW Sauber’s Pit Lane Park, designed to give the public a closer insight into Formula One racing, will be open from January 7-10, as part of the support programme for the Consumer Electronics Show.
