Kovalainen crashes Renault in Bahrain
|
Renaults Heikki Kovalainen crashed heavily on Tuesday, during the first day of this weeks test session in Bahrain. Although Kovalainen walked from the car unaided, severe damage to the R27 means the Finn is not expected back on track for the rest of the day.
The accident, which occurred when Kovalainen lost control at turn seven of the Sakhir circuit, destroyed the right side of the car after impacting the barriers at speed.
With this week's session the last major test before Marchs Australian Grand Prix, the delay to Kovalainens programme will be a unwanted disruption for the Renault team, who are now expected to see out Tuesday with Giancarlo Fisichella as their sole runner.
