Bridgestone announced on Monday which tyre specifications would be used during the first five Grands Prix of 2007. The selection, drawn from the four dry grooved tyre compounds - super soft, soft, medium and hard - produced by the tyre supplier this year, will be used by all 11 teams.

Soft and medium specifications will be used for the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne this weekend, while over the next three races in Malaysia, Bahrain and Spain, the medium and hard compounds will be used. Finally in Monaco, the fifth race of the season, Bridgestone will field its super-soft and soft specifications.

The 2007 Formula One Sporting Regulations state that both compounds must be used by drivers during each race and, following last week’s last-minute change, the two tyre types will now be made 'visibly distinguishable' from each other. Although Bridgestone have yet to reveal exactly how the two specifications will be differentiated, it is understood the ‘Option’ tyre - the softer compound used in a particular race - will be the rubber marked.
