After his team mate Kimi Raikkonen cruised to a dominant victory in the last race in Melbourne, Ferrari’s Felipe Massa has disclosed the Italian team plan to run a similar package on both F2007s in this weekend’s Malaysian Grand Prix.

“The car we will race in Malaysia is the same as the one we raced in Australia, with nothing new,” Massa told Ferrari’s official website. “So from this aspect with the same package, our performance level cannot improve. But in another sense, we have done more running with the car now, and so we have a much better understanding of the car and how it works and that is very important.”

While Raikkonen triumphed in Australia from pole, Massa endured a difficult race, after a decision to change his F2007’s engine on Sunday morning forced him to start the Grand Prix from the back of the grid. A strong performance, however, saw the Brazilian gradually work his way up the field to eventually finish in sixth.

The pace of both Ferraris looked equally quick during testing at the Sepang circuit last week and, without the disruptions that blighted his result in Australia, Massa is confident the race in Malaysia will see both Ferraris at the head of the pack.

“I am looking forward to having a race from the front this weekend,” added the Brazilian. “Looking at what we did in Australia and also last week in Sepang, we are looking very strong ourselves. In the first race we managed to win but we had a reliability problem with the other car, so the obvious next step is to be in a position to have both cars at the front.”
