Super Aguri announced on Monday that James Rossiter has been appointed as an official tester with the team. The 23 year-old British driver will join the Japanese squad in France this week at the multi-team test at Paul Ricard.

"I am really pleased to be joining Super Aguri as their test driver and look forward to getting to know the team over the next few weeks,” explained Rossiter. “This is a great opportunity for me and it will be good to get into the SA07 at the Paul Ricard test on Tuesday and start to help the team with their development programme."

Rossiter, a graduate of Honda Racing’s Young Driver Programme, was promoted to be a Honda test driver in November 2006, after completing a season in the World Series by Renault. Previously he had raced in the F3 Euroseries, clinched three wins and 12 podium positions in the 2004 British F3 series and had spent two years driving in the Formula Renault UK Championship.

“I am happy to welcome James to the Super Aguri family and that we have the opportunity to work with a young and recognised driving talent,” added team principal Aguri Suzuki. “I hope that the relationship we build together over the coming year will help James develop into a competitive driver for the future of the sport.”

Rossiter will work alongside Super Aguri’s race drivers Anthony Davidson and Takuma Sato.
