Mol steps up to become Spyker CEO 17 May 2007
Spykers Formula One director Michiel Mol has been appointed as the Dutch sportscar makers interim CEO, after Victor Mullers decision to step down from the post to focus on design and development.
Muller has been in discussions with Mol concerning his succession since last September, when Spyker acquired the former Midland team. However, Mols appointment is only temporary and once a permanent replacement has been found he will return to concentrating on Spykers Formula One commitments.
Whilst Victors decision to stand down from the role of CEO has come sooner than expected the team that he built remains, said 37-year-old Mol. I see my key role going forward as continuing to strengthen and expand that team with the most capable motor industry talent available.
In time, one of those recruitments will need to be for the role of CEO as I return my focus and energies to the building of the Spyker Formula One team. Until that point I am highly committed to take on the responsibilities of leading the company.
Mols appointment as interim CEO takes effect on May 21, 2007.
