Tomita to become Chairman of Fuji Speedway
Toyotas Formula One team principal Tsutomu Tomita has been announced as the new Chairman of the Toyota-owned Fuji Speedway, venue for this years Japanese Grand Prix.
It follows last months news that Tomita is to be replaced in his current role at the end of June by Toyota Racing Vice Chairman, Tadashi Yamashina.
I am looking forward to taking up my new role at Fuji Speedway, said Tomita. I would like to thank everyone at Toyota Motorsport and of course our partners for their encouragement and support during my time with the team in Formula One.
I am moving on to a new challenge with Fuji Speedway so I will continue to be involved in Formula One. The Japanese Grand Prix is returning to Fuji Speedway after 30 years and I am sure we will host a successful event. I particularly hope to see the Toyota team achieve great things at Fuji Speedway.
The last Japanese Grand Prix at Fuji was the 1977 event, won by James Hunt.
