While the majority of teams began testing in Britain, Honda and Super Aguri headed to sunnier climes, kicking off a three-day test at the Spanish circuit of Jerez on Tuesday.

Test driver Christian Klien took charge of Honda’s programme for the day, as he conducted a comprehensive shakedown of several new mechanical parts on the RA107. Klien also ran through various electronic control settings and completed a number of race start simulations.

The Austrian covered 77 laps, but no lap times were issued by Honda. Race driver Jenson Button will arrive on Wednesday to carry out a more detailed evaluation of the squad’s new mechanical and aerodynamic parts.

Super Aguri, meanwhile, fielded tester James Rossiter, who covered 76 laps in the SA07. Rossiter ran through various chassis set-up options and clocked a best time of 1m 20.926s.

Both Super Aguri and Honda will continue at the Spanish track on Wednesday.
