Michael Schumacher made another of his low-key appearances at Ferrari this weekend, after missing the British Grand Prix.
Fellow former champion Mika Hakkinen was another famous face in the paddock as the Finn carried out duties as ambassador for Johnnie Walker.
In GP2, Timo Glock got his championship campaign back on track with a strong victory over rivals Lucas di Grassi and Kazuki Nakajima. Silverstone winner Adam Carroll and fellow Briton Mike Conway were out of luck. The former was eliminated in a collision with Bruno Senna, while the latter was attacked from behind in the first corner but later set fastest lap.
In Formula BMW, British race winner Henry Surtees was also out of luck, finishing 24th and last in a race won by Daniel Campos-Hull. Former Ferrari Formula One winner Patrick Tambays son Adrien qualified second, but finished fourth.
