Honda announced on Monday the appointment of David Butler as the team’s new marketing director. Butler, who has over 15 years of experience in the marketing field, will initially concentrate on building up more awareness of the Japanese squad's environmental initiative.

“We are delighted to welcome David to the Honda Racing F1 Team,” explained CEO Nick Fry. “In my opinion he is one of the most dynamic and energetic marketers operating within the sports arena today and his wealth of experience speaks for itself.

“We have been delighted with the impact we have made across the globe with our ‘Earth Car’ livery and myearthdream.com website and I have no doubt that David has the skills and experience to build on our success to date and take our marketing programme to another level.”

Before joining Honda, Butler was employed in a similar position for Laureus, a joint venture between DaimlerChrysler and Luxury goods group Richemont. He was responsible for marketing not only the annual Laureus Sports Awards but also the organisation’s World Sports Academy and its charitable foundation, Sport for Good.
