Renault roadshow to visit Mexico 11 Sep 2007
No sooner had Renaults Formula One roadshow returned from wowing the crowds in Rotterdam in June, then plans were afoot to send it on its travels again - this time to Mexico. The French team will be in Mexico City on October 13-14.
A 1.4 kilometre stretch of the Paseo de la Reforma will be closed for the event, giving a total lap length of 2.8 km for the demonstration. Renault race driver Giancarlo Fisichella and Nelson Piquet Jr will both be in attendance behind the wheel of a R26.
I never got a chance to race in Mexico, so I'm looking forward to going there for the first time, and especially because we will be driving the car in one of the biggest cities in the world! explained Fisichella. The roadshow events are always a great success, and it is a fantastic way to meet the public and our supporters. I'm looking forward to tasting the atmosphere in Mexico!
The city last hosted a Grand Prix in 1992. Nigel Mansell won the event from pole in his Renault-engined Williams.
