100,000 watch Renault roadshow in Lisbon 27 Oct 2008
Following recent visits to Johannesburg, Paris and Kiev, the Renault Roadshow team made an appearance in Lisbon on Sunday. The team's test and third driver Lucas Di Grassi was in action on the streets of the Portuguese capital, behind the wheel of an R27.
More than 100,000 people turned out to watch the demonstration, which took place on a temporary street circuit that included the city's famous Avenida da Liberdade, Marques de Pombal Square and Restauradores Square.
"We have received a great welcome in Lisbon, said Di Grassi. The aim was to provide a special show for the public and I believe we have succeeded in doing that. The public came out in big numbers and I hope that they enjoyed the day as much as I did. Driving on the streets of a city is something very different and very intense because the public is very close to you it's a special feeling and I had a lot of fun this weekend!"
The Brazilian performed several donuts and burnouts as he put the car through its paces, and ended the day with Formula One racings customary champagne shower.
