Kubica to receive Lorenzo Bandini award 14 Apr 2008
Robert Kubica has been chosen as the recipient of this years Lorenzo Bandini Trophy, in recognition of his outstanding performances with BMW Sauber. The annual award is given by the Italian village of Brisighella in memory of local driver Bandini, who was killed in the 1967 Monaco Grand Prix.
After making his Formula One debut with BMW midway through 2006, Kubica scored three fourth places in 2007 and also bounced back from a serious accident in the Canadian Grand Prix to finish sixth in the final standings. This year he has already given the team two podiums and their maiden pole position.
Kubica is expected to collect his award at a special ceremony next month. The Polish drivers name will then be added to a winners list that includes Felipe Massa, Mark Webber, Kimi Raikkonen, Jacques Villeneuve and Michael Schumacher.
