Aerodynamics chief Toso departs Renault team 17 Jun 2008
After eight highly successful years, Renault have announced the departure of aerodynamicist Dino Toso from the team.
Toso was Renaults director of aerodynamic technology and was instrumental in building one of Formula One racings most successful aerodynamics departments, which he has led since 2003. In that time, the team has won two world titles and never finished lower than third in the championship.
After delivering a revised aerodynamic package for Barcelona, which Renault hope will see the R28 competing with the top teams before the season's end, Toso is now seeking new challenges in motorsport.
"I would like to thank Flavio Briatore and Bob Bell for their professional and personal support throughout my time with the Renault F1 Team, during which we have enjoyed great success together," commented Toso.
"My passion for motorsport has always centred on innovative aerodynamics, and been motivated by a thirst for competition. I'm looking forward to tackling new challenges that will allow me to fully express my technical creativity in the years ahead, and take me back to what I love most: the thrill of competition."
Tosos responsibilities for leading Renaults aerodynamics department have been taken over by Dirk de Beer.
