Alonso delayed by plane drama 05 Jan 2009
Renaults Fernando Alonso was forced to postpone his travel plans on Sunday after his plane was damaged before takeoff in Kenya. Alonso had been in the country for New Year celebrations at team boss Flavio Briatores resort.
Alonso was due to fly back to Europe with his wife and other family, but had to delay his return after the plane made minor contact with a building whilst taxiing on the runway, damaging one of its wings.
No one was hurt in the incident and the Spaniard is now expected to fly on Monday as he looks forward to testing Renaults 2009 car, the R29, which will be rolled out at Portugals Algarve Motor Park on January 19.
