Marmorini joins Ferrari as head of engine department 06 Oct 2009
Ferrari have announced that Luca Marmorini has joined the team as head of the engine and electronics department. Marmorini worked for Italian outfit earlier in his career during the 1990s.
The 48 year-old has spent the last 10 seasons working for Toyota Motorsport. The Italian will replace Gilles Simon, who has been head of Ferraris engine department since 2006.
A statement released on Tuesday said: Ferrari wishes to thank Gilles Simon for the important contribution he made during his time with the Gestione Sportiva, first, from 1994 to 2006 as head of engine design and then as head of the whole engine department.
"During that time, the V10 and V8 engines built at Maranello won six drivers' titles and eight constructors' titles, as well as taking 106 Formula One race wins.
