Welcome to the opening race of the 2009 FIA Formula One World Championship, the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne’s Albert Park.

There was some rain here earlier in the week, but conditions will be perfect for racing on Sunday, with sunshine, a light wind and an ambient temperature high of 26 degrees Celsius.

The 5.303 kilometre (3.295 mile) circuit is unchanged. Lewis Hamilton took pole position for last year’s race in 1m 26.714s for McLaren, and went on to win.

This year’s race will run over 58 laps or 307.574 kilometres (191.11 miles) and will start at 1700 hours local time (0600 hours GMT).
