Drivers sign up for StarCards charity auction 29 Jun 2009
A unique collection of over 20 playing cards signed by top Formula One names are currently being auctioned online, in a bid to raise funds for London's Great Ormond Street Hospital. The StarCards project, which was launched at the British Grand Prix, is supported by F1 photographers Sutton Motorsport Images.
All the cards have been professionally mounted with a high quality driver portrait and driving action montage. Mark Sutton of Sutton Images gathered the signatures at the recent Turkish race, with names including Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton, Rubens Barrichello, Sebastian Vettel, Jarno Trulli and Kimi Raikkonen.
"We hope that as many people as possible will get online for the next StarCards British Grand Prix auction and bid as much as possible, said Paul Brett of StarCards. "We want to raise as much money as we can for the charity. We owe a huge thank you to all the Formula One teams and Sutton Motorsport Images for their help."
Mark Sutton added: "Sutton Motorsport Images are once again proud to support the annual StarCards British Grand Prix auction, which we continue to believe is a valuable and worthy cause. I had an excellent response from all the Formula One team principals, press officers, and in particular the drivers, who signed the cards without hesitation.
"Our designers have also created the montages that accompany the cards and we believe that, once mounted, they will provide a memorable and unique memento that will raise vital funds for our friends at the Great Ormond Street Hospital."
The 10-day auction started at www.starcards.org on Saturday, June 20 and is set to finish on Tuesday, June 30.
