Gallagher joins Cosworths Formula One line-up 07 Sep 2009
Cosworth announced on Monday the appointment of Mark Gallagher as the leader of the Group's Formula One Business Unit. Gallagher brings a wealth of experience in the world of professional motorsport gained during 26 years working in Formula One racing, WRC and A1GP.
With all three of 2010s new teams expected to use Cosworth power, Gallagher will play a crucial role in delivering the performance they will rely on. He will represent Cosworth at the track and be fully responsible for coordination of Cosworths relationship with its customers.
"I am very pleased that Mark has agreed to join Cosworth," commented Tim Routsis, Chief Executive of the Cosworth Group. "Mark is the ideal man to head up Cosworths Formula One operation and I'm confident he will play a major role in Cosworth's success as our engines return to the grid in 2010."
Formerly with Jordan Grand Prix and Jaguar Racing between 1995 and 2005, Gallagher joins Cosworth from Status Grand Prix Ltd, the team he co-founded in 2005 and guided to victory for Ireland in the 2008/09 A1GP series.
"The opportunity to lead Cosworths Formula One operations is one that I am relishing, commented Gallagher. As we start an exciting new chapter in the history of Cosworths contribution to Formula One my focus will be on ensuring that the technical excellence inherent in our products and the trackside support we will provide will play a significant role in enabling our customers to achieve their goals."
