First Cosworth engines ready to be shipped 12 Jan 2010
Returning Formula One engine supplier Cosworths first batch of V8s, destined for use by their five customer teams in pre-season testing, was completed ahead of schedule before Christmas and is now ready to be shipped. Williams and the four new squads joining the grid - Campos Meta, Lotus, the US team and Virgin - will all use Cosworth power 2010.
The first batch of CA2010 units is boxed and ready for our customers to press ahead with installation, fire-up and initial testing, confirmed Cosworths F1 manager, Mark Gallagher. Were looking forward to seeing them all on track next month since there is still a lot of work to do before the season starts.
After the very busy summer and autumn months when we were putting our programme together it has been very rewarding to see the first engines ready for action thanks to the hard work of everyone here at Cosworth and our suppliers.
The Northampton-based engine manufacturer powered both Williams and Toro Rosso in 2006 before departing the sport. Their return will see them supply engines to all five of their customer teams over the next three seasons, from 2010 to 2012.
