Lotus’s test driver Fairuz Fauzy will make his Formula One practice debut in Malaysia on Friday morning. Malaysian Fauzy will replace Heikki Kovalainen during the opening practice session at Kuala Lumpur’s Sepang International Circuit.

“First of all I’m very pleased to be back home, and I’m very happy to have been given the opportunity to drive on Friday,” said the 27 year-old. “It’ll be a good chance to test the track and the driving conditions, and I feel very happy to be back driving for Lotus Racing in my home country of Malaysia after my last run in Barcelona. The car is much improved from the past two races and I hope we can continue the good development.”

Fauzy was a test driver for the Spyker squad back in 2007. Since then he has competed in the GP2 series, the World Series by Renault, and the A1GP championship. In February, he covered over 150 laps in the Lotus T127 during pre-season tests at the Spanish circuits of Jerez and Barcelona.
