The Renault Formula One team are to open up their doors this summer and allow a lucky few to experience an F1 car from the driver’s seat. The ‘Feel It’ programme will see paying members of the public get behind the wheel at Budapest’s Hungaroring circuit, home of the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Renault say the experience is designed to offer a rare glimpse into the challenge faced by the best drivers on the planet every other weekend. The fast-track training programme will take the participants from junior Formula Renault cars to modern Formula One machinery in just one day.

With a team of 30 experts on hand, including mechanics, engineers and personal physios, those taking part will sample every aspect of life as an F1 driver, from attending engineers’ meetings to studying the telemetry, and even walking the track. The day will end with an outing in Renault’s three-seater F1 car, piloted by one of the team’s reserve drivers.

With packages starting at €5,500, becoming an F1 driver - even for just one day - isn’t cheap, although there’s no denying it would be an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience. More details can be found at Renault’s official website.
