Coletti to test for Toro Rosso in Abu Dhabi 02 Nov 2011

GP2 star Stefano Coletti has revealed that he is to drive for Toro Rosso at the Abu Dhabi young driver test later this month. It will be the first taste of Formula One power for the 22 year-old from Monaco.

“I’m happy to finally announce that I’ll be testing with Toro Rosso in Abu Dhabi,” said Coletti on Wednesday. “(I’m) on my way to the Toro Rosso headquarters. Going to make my seat and meet all the guys.”

Coletti has been racing single seaters since 2005, winning in championships including Formula BMW, Formula Renault and Formula Three. After two GP3 podiums in 2010, he stepped up to GP2 and this season took one victory in the Asian series and two in the main series with Trident Racing.

However, a heavy crash at Spa in August left him with fractured vertebrae and ruled him out of the season-ending Monza round. After a swift recovery, he made a successful return to GP2 testing in Spain last month.

The Abu Dhabi young driver test takes place on November 15-17 in the week following the 2011 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
