Chilton in for Force India at Abu Dhabi young driver test 07 Nov 2011
Force India have announced that British driver Max Chilton will test for the team at next weeks young driver session in Abu Dhabi. Chilton, 20, carried out a straight-line aero test with Force India in September.
I cant wait to get back in the car in Abu Dhabi, said Chilton, who has just completed his second GP2 campaign. Ive spent time with the team already so Ive got a feel for the way they work and I hope I can get up to speed quickly.
Abu Dhabi is a track Ive raced at a few times in GP2 so that will help. Its a big opportunity for me and I just want to enjoy the experience and take in as much as I can.
Dr Vijay Mallya, Force India team principal, commented: We all know how difficult it is to break into Formula One, so the young driver test is a great initiative allowing all the teams to evaluate young talent.
It gives the drivers a chance to learn more about how a Formula One team operates away from the pressures of a race weekend and get valuable experience under their belt. I will keep a close eye on the progress of the test next week.
The Abu Dhabi test takes place on November 15-17 and Chilton will drive on Tuesday and Thursday. Force India will confirm their full line-up for the session in the coming days.
