Quaife-Hobbs called up for Virgin aero test 12 May 2011
Young GP3 driver Adrian Quaife-Hobbs will enjoy his first taste of Formula One power at a straight-line test for the Virgin team on Sunday. Quaife-Hobbs currently competes for the Marussia Manor Racing GP3 team as a member of Virgins young driver programme.
The 20 year-old will be in action at the Idiada proving ground in Spain, charged with evaluating Virgins new aero package. He will visit the teams Sheffield factory on Thursday before flying out to the track on Saturday.
Im very much looking forward to driving an F1 car for the first time and must thank the Marussia Virgin Racing team for the faith they have shown in me in allowing me to carry out aerodynamic testing in their new car, said the young Briton. Its a great opportunity to get the chance to drive an F1 car as the team carries out computerized design testing with the new car.
Well test lots of aero parts and Im really proud to be playing a part in it. Doing aero testing there is no pressure to perform but it will give me a great opportunity to see how the F1 team works.
After the test, Quaife-Hobbs will return to racing action in Spain at Barcelonas Circuit de Catalunya from May 20-22, when GP3 will be one of the F1 support events at this year's Grand Prix.
