New Year Honours for Newey and Mansell 01 Jan 2012
Renowned Formula One designer Adrian Newey and 1992 world champion Nigel Mansell have both been named on the UKs New Year Honours list which rewards achievement or service to the country.
Newey, Red Bulls chief technical officer, receives an OBE (Officer of Order of the British Empire) for services to motorsport, while Mansell picks up a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) for services to children and young people in his role as president of charity UK Youth.
Neweys Red Bull cars have won the constructors championship for the past two seasons and he has previously designed machines that have taken titles for Williams and McLaren, including the Williams FW14B that powered Mansell to his 92 crown.
Mansell, already an OBE, was famed for his committed racing style during a Formula One career that spanned 15 years and featured 31 Grand Prix victories, 32 pole positions and 30 fastest laps.
