Over the last few days, Ferrari’s driver line-up have been sweating away at a special fitness camp in the Canary Islands. Fernando Alonso, Felipe Massa and Ferrari young drivers Jules Bianchi and Davide Rigon were all in attendance at the camp, which was held on the island of Lanzarote.

As well as working out at the gym, the four drivers tackled a variety of activities including mountain biking, football, tennis and canoeing.

“The Lanzarote course was not only aimed at improving physical condition, which is absolutely vital in a demanding sport like Formula One,” the team explained on their official website. “But it was also an important exercise in team building, both because the competitive nature inherent in all the drivers spurred them to work even harder and in the right spirit and also because, spending time together reinforces the friendship between them.”

Following the camp, the drivers will return to Maranello to continue their pre-season preparations, ahead of the unveiling of the team’s new car on Friday. Alonso and Massa will then begin on-track work at the opening multi-team winter test at Jerez, Spain, from February 7-10, with the Brazilian in the cockpit for the first two days, followed by the Spaniard for the final two days.

At the second pre-season test, which will take place at Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya from February 21-24, Alonso will be in charge of the car for the first two days, before Massa returns to the cockpit. The driver order will then be reversed at the final four-day Barcelona test, which will get underway on March 1.
