Daniel Ricciardo is to drop five places on the grid for Sunday’s 2012 Formula 1 Korean Grand Prix thanks to a gearbox-change penalty ahead of the race.

Ricciardo came to a halt on track near the end of Q2 on Saturday with driveshaft problems, and the team were forced to open up the box to investigate the cause.

It means the Australian will now move back from 16th to 21st on the grid, with team mate Jean-Eric Vergne, Williams’ Bruno Senna, Caterham’s Vitaly Petrov and Heikki Kovalainen and Marussia’s Timo Glock all moving up a place.
