Force India have been forced to abandon their Thursday testing at Jerez after newly-signed reserve driver Jules Bianchi crashed early in the morning session. Although damage to the car was not severe, a lack of spare parts means the VJM05 will not be back on track until Friday.

Following his impressive debut with the team on Wednesday, Bianchi had completed just two laps when he went off into the gravel before colliding with the tyre wall. Mechanics worked to repair the car, but were forced to concede defeat at lunchtime.

“No more running today,” said the team via Twitter. “We are waiting for a part to complete the repair of the car. Should be back out in the morning with Nico Hulkenberg. You always have good and bad days in testing.”

Hulkenberg, who has stepped up to a Force India race seat for 2012 having served as a tester last season, had been due to get his first taste of the VJM05 on Thursday afternoon.
