Button wows thousands with Budapest street run 02 May 2012
Whilst his cohorts testing in Mugello dodged the showers, McLarens Jenson Button enjoyed the sunshine in Budapest for his demonstration run on Tuesday. Thousands of spectators joined Button for the event in the Hungarian capital, which was organised by the teams title sponsor Vodafone as part of their Raise Your Game Weekend.
It was a great pleasure for me to take part in such a huge festival featuring exciting programmes in downtown Budapest, said the Briton. I really enjoyed the running over the afternoon. It was special not only because it was hosted in a location different to the usual Formula One circuits, and I could drive surrounded by beautiful buildings.
Buttons outing took place on a specially-constructed 1.6-kilometre course through the Budapest city centre, near the Parliament building. As well as reaching nearly 200 km/h on one of his three runs, the Briton performed a series of crowd-pleasing donuts. There were also pit-stop challenges and a Formula One simulator to keep the spectators entertained.
