Perez handed five-place grid penalty for impeding 21 Jul 2012
Saubers Sergio Perez has been handed a five-place grid penalty by the German stewards for blocking other cars during Saturdays qualifying session for the Hockenheim race. Perez had qualified in 12th.
After reviewing evidence, the stewards decided the Mexican had impeded both the Ferrari of Fernando Alonso and the Lotus of Kimi Raikkonen in Q2. He will now start Sundays race from 17th on the grid.
The Sauber driver is the fourth driver to receive a grid penalty this weekend. Red Bulls Mark Webber, Lotuss Romain Grosjean and Mercedes Nico Rosberg will all drop five places too after their cars underwent unscheduled gearbox changes.
