Gearbox penalties for Senna and De la Rosa 23 Sep 2012
Williams Bruno Senna has joined HRTs Pedro de la Rosa in taking a five-place grid penalty for Sundays Singapore race, thanks to an unscheduled gearbox change. Gearboxes are required to last five consecutive Grands Prix.
De la Rosas change was made ahead of final practice, but Sennas was only needed after damage sustained in qualifying when he hit the wall in the latter stages of Q1. Williams confirmed the penalty on Sunday afternoon at Marina Bay.
Senna, who had been 17th in the final qualifying results, will now start from 22nd on the grid, while De la Rosas penalty makes no difference to his starting position after he qualified in last place on Saturday.
