Toro Rosso have confirmed that their 2014 signing Daniil Kvyat will be able to drive in opening practice at this weekend’s 2013 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix as planned, after meeting the requirements for his F1 Super License.

Kvyat, recently crowned 2013 GP3 Series champion, covered just over 400 kilometres in a test at Italy’s Misano circuit last Friday, driving a two-year-old Toro Rosso STR6 as part of a filming day organised by the team.

It means the 19-year-old Russian, who will replace the Red Bull-bound Daniel Ricciardo at Toro Rosso next season, is now free to pilot future team mate Jean-Eric Vergne’s car for FP1 in Austin. He will also participate in the same session in Brazil using Ricciardo’s car.
