Ferrari have announced that test driver Pedro de la Rosa and Marussia driver Jules Bianchi will drive for them at next week’s Pirelli tyre test in Bahrain.

Ferrari are one of six teams who have opted to attend the three-day test at Sakhir, which runs from December 17-19 and will feature 2013-spec cars driving to a schedule dictated by Pirelli. The F1 Commission gave the Italian manufacturer the go-ahead to conduct the extra session on safety grounds so that they can test their 2014 tyres.

De la Rosa will take the wheel for the first two days of the test before handing the F138 over to Bianchi for the final day. Frenchman Bianchi, a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy who has tested for the Italian team before, is free to drive for Ferrari as Marussia (along with Lotus, Sauber, Williams and Caterham) are not attending the test.
