The Killers to headline Singapore Saturday concert 06 Mar 2013
Organisers of the 2013 Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix have announced The Killers as the first headline act for this year’s race weekend concerts. The Las Vegas alternative rock band will be performing post-qualifying on Saturday, September 21.
The multi award-winning, multi-platinum group are set to ignite the Padang stage for one night only in their first ever concert in Singapore. Entry to the concert is included with any three-day ticket to the Grand Prix.
In their first ten years together, The Killers have earned a reputation as one of the world’s finest live bands and amassed a collection of BRIT, MTV, NME, Q, World Music and most recently ASCAP Awards. Dubbed by Rolling Stone and MTV the hottest band of 2005, The Killers first blazed onto the Indie scene in 2003 with their hit ‘Mr Brightside’.
Consisting of Brandon Flowers (lead vocals, keyboards), Dave Keuning (guitar, backing vocals), Mark Stoermer (bass, backing vocals) and Ronnie Vannucci Jr (drums, percussion), the band have been a key player in the post-punk revival movement, drawing their influences from music styles of the 1980s.
Since then, they have a string of accolades to their name and their albums have made it to the Billboard 200 Albums of the Year charts for seven years. The Killers have also been listed #3 by Amazon.com UK in the Top 10 best-selling artists and albums of the decade. Their four albums ‘Hot Fuss’, ‘Sam's Town’, ‘Day & Age’ and ‘Battle Born’ have sold over 15 million copies worldwide.
September’s Singapore concert, which will take place on the country’s biggest outdoor stage, will form part of The Killers’ Battle Born World Tour and is expected to feature hits such as ‘Runaways’, ‘Mr Brightside’, ‘Human’, ‘Somebody Told Me’, ‘All These Things That I’ve Done’ and ‘When You Were Young’.
Singapore organisers are expected to announce more acts for the race weekend concerts over the coming weeks.
