Force India to evaluate Calado at Silverstone test 16 Jul 2013

James Calado (GBR) ART Grand Prix. GP2 Series, Rd3, Barcelona, Spain, 10-12 May 2013

Force India will run up-and-coming British GP2 racer James Calado at this week’s young driver test at Silverstone.

The 24-year-old will share driving duties with the team’s race drivers, Paul di Resta and Adrian Sutil, over the three-day session, with the driving schedule confirmed each morning.

Force India’s team principal and managing director Vijay Mallya said the team are pleased to give Calado a full test in the car, having already handed him a sample of the Mercedes-powered VJM06 during straight-line aerodynamic testing.

“As a graduate of the Racing Steps Foundation, his talent and determination have brought him to our attention and this is the ideal occasion to evaluate him further," said Mallya.

However, Mallya insisted that the team’s priority for the Silverstone test is to gain a better understanding of the revised Pirelli tyres that are due to be introduced in Hungary.
