Caterham reserve Alexander Rossi and his fellow Caterham racing academy member Will Stevens will be behind the wheel of the Caterham CT03 for days one and two of this week's Silverstone young driver test, the team confirmed on Tuesday.

Rossi, 21, will drive on the first day of the test on Wednesday before 22-year-old Stevens is given his first taste of F1 machinery on Thursday. Caterham’s race drivers, Giedo van der Garde and Charles Pic, will then share driving duties on the final day of the test, on Friday, in order to allow them the opportunity to try Pirelli’s revised tyres.

American racer Rossi has taken part in two Grand Prix FP1 sessions with Caterham, the last of which was in Canada in June. He’s currently competing in GP2 with the squad’s junior team, whilst British driver Stevens is midway through his second Formula Renault 3.5 campaign.

On the eve of his F1 debut, Stevens said: “Since the announcement was made about me joining the Caterham Racing Academy I’ve settled in quickly with the F1 team and they’ve made every effort to help me prepare fully for my first run in a F1 car on day two of the test.

“I spent quite a bit of time last week in the simulator so I’m comfortable with most of the systems I’ll be working with and, while obviously nothing can really prepare you for the first time you drive an F1 car, I’m as ready as I can be.”
