Formula One racing’s official tyre suppliers Pirelli have announced the tyre compounds that will be used at the first three races of the second half of the season, in Belgium, Italy and Singapore.

For Belgium’s demanding Spa circuit, the longest and one of the fastest tracks on the calendar, Pirelli will bring the orange-marked hard and white-marked medium compound. The two hardest compounds have been chosen because Spa sees the front tyres experience the highest vertical load they’ll face all season, mainly due to the fast, sweeping Eau Rouge corner.

For Pirelli’s home race in Italy, the hard and the medium compounds have again been nominated to deal with the very high longitudinal forces and tyre blistering that Monza’s long straights and heavy braking zones promote.

To cope with the demands of street racing, Pirelli will bring the white-marked medium and red-marked supersoft tyres to Singapore, the latter making its first appearance since Canada. The supersoft tyre - the softest in Pirelli’s range - will provide high levels of grip and traction on the low-grip street surface, whereas the more durable medium compound will add an intriguing strategical element.

As in Hungary, all the tyres Pirelli provide going forwards will be the revised specification, pairing the 2012 construction with the 2013 compounds.
