The Lesser Known… Scott Speed
As one half of Toro Rosso’s youthful line-up, Scott Speed has embarked on his second Formula One season. Now a veteran of 19 Grands Prix, it’s about time we got to know the American a little better...
Q: Funniest thing you've read about yourself in the press?
A: Gerhard (Berger) saying that I am a party animal…I don't even drink!
Q: Your favourite song for karaoke?
A: Some kind of hip hop. I’m a great rapper, but can't sing to save my life!
Q: When you're at home, what do you listen to when driving?
A: A lot of different stuff, but as often as possible I prefer not to drive. It’s too boring and I end up getting into trouble when I try and make it interesting.
Q: What's in your garage at home?
A: I don't have a garage yet!
Q: Your most prized possession?
A: Nothing material, because I don't think they can ever really make you happy, but certainly my family and girlfriend are my most important ‘possessions’.
Q: Tell us something we don't know about you?
A: I am a good cyclist and I absolutely love movies.
Q: What's the most unusual request you've had from a fan?
A: A young lady asked me what hotel I was staying at in front of my girlfriend Valentina.
Q: Your most embarrassing moment?
A: I came into the pits one lap early in a kart race I was leading.
Q: If you were a superhero, what would your special powers be?
A: Being invisible!
Q: Best part of being a Formula One driver - apart from the driving?
A: To have my parents’ respect.
Q: Do you have any bad habits?
A: I forget things a lot.
Q: What would you be if you weren’t a racing driver?
A: A fighter pilot.
