FIA floor deflection test 28 July 2013

This drawing shows the floor deflection test carried out by the FIA, which was made more severe from 2010 and which Romain Grosjean's Lotus failed after he qualified third in Budapest on Saturday. Under article 3.17.5 of the technical regulations, the floor may flex no more than 5mm under a 200 kilogram load applied at three different points. Grosjean avoided a penalty as Lotus were able to show that the floor had been damaged on a kerb.
