2014 rule changes - head-on comparison: 2013/14 23 January 2014

When compared side-by-side in a head-on view, the differences between the 2013 car (on the right) and 2014 car (on the left) are clear. The reduction in chassis height from 625 to 525mm is perhaps the most obvious difference and, as you can see, this has a significant effect on front suspension geometry. Another noticeable difference is the smaller rear wing flap area, reduced from 220 to 200mm for 2014. The sidepods and sidepod openings, meanwhile, will grow in size in 2014 thanks to the increased cooling demands of the new power unit coupled with larger mandatory deformable crash structures.
