Saddled with uncompetitive and unreliable Lotus, never progresses beyond Q2 and scores just once with a ninth place in the United States, as he is out-classed by team mate Grosjean. Remains with the team - who switch to Mercedes power - for 2015.

Secures maiden pole and Grand Prix victory in Spain, becoming first Venezuelan to take an F1 win. Then fails to score in next nine races before finally picking up more points with eighth in Japan. Comes in for repeated criticism from stewards for multiple collisions.
