Red Bull RB9 - rear brake sensors 23 November 2013

During Friday practice in Brazil, both Red Bull cars were fitted with an array of sensors and instruments to collect data. On Sebastian Vettel's car, the team replaced the thermal-imaging camera they often run with sensors (indicated in the picture by the red arrow) which were used to monitor the rear brakes with smaller diameter discs. 2014 sees the introduction of a new powertrain featuring more powerful Energy Recovery Systems (ERS). To compensate for the extra power being generated under braking by ERS, teams will be allowed to use an electronic rear brake control system. The data Red Bull collected in Brazil will be useful to compare to the more sophisticated system used next season.
