Williams FW28 - rear detail 02 February 2006
Among the most distinctive features of the new Williams is the rearward-sloping fin on its engine cover. It features a striking, deep cut at its base (red arrow), which emphasises just how much smaller and shorter the new V8 is than its V10 predecessor. The car's aerodynamics are revised, though many details are similar to the FW27, in particular the area around the exhausts, winglets and venting chimneys. The sidepods, too, mimic the shrunken profile of the previous car's. This close resemblance suggests an evolutionary design adapted to the Cosworth V8, hinting at a possible change to a different engine supplier in 2007.
