McLaren MP4-27 - higher front-wing assembly 12 May 2012
The McLaren is sporting a much higher nose set-up (see bottom drawing) in Spain, after the team briefly evaluated it at last week's Mugello test. They had started the season with a much lower nose set-up (see top drawing). The new solution on the MP4-27 feeds a much more powerful airflow under the chassis to the floor and diffuser. The bottom section of the nose is nearly two inches higher and the central pillars are wider. There are also new turning vanes under the chassis, which are longer than those on the original solution.
