McLaren MP4-27 - new front wing 07 July 2012
McLaren have brought a new front wing with them to Silverstone. Unlike on the older version (inset), the second flap has been divided in two (1). The inner section is adjustable, whilst the outer section is fixed to better direct the air in front of the tyres. Also new is the mechanism (2) controlling the wing's angle of incidence, which connects the second flap with the main plane. Only Hamilton ran the new wing on Friday, as there was only one available, but a second was delivered on Saturday for Button. Both men opted to use it for qualifying and the race.
