Lotus E21 - floor deflection test failure 03 November 2013

At the end of qualifying, race stewards in Abu Dhabi found that Kimi Raikkonen's Lotus did not conform to the regulations. The left-hand side of the floor was found to deflect more than the permitted 5mm vertically when the testing load was applied. This drawing shows how the test is done, with 200kg loads applied at three different points. Raikkonen was excluded from qualifying as a result of the failure, and was forced to start the race from the back of the grid, rather than from fifth place.
