HIGHLIGHTS: Relive the action from the final qualifying of 2024 in Abu Dhabi as Norris heads McLaren 1-2
Lando Norris gave McLaren the best chance of securing their first constructors’ title since 1998 in qualifying for the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, claiming his eighth pole of the year, as team mate Oscar Piastri completed a McLaren front row lock-out.
It means Norris ends the season as the top qualifier, tied on poles with Max Verstappen – who finished P5 – but with a better average starting position.
Carlos Sainz took P3 on his final appearance for Ferrari – the only team able to challenge McLaren for the title on Sunday, the Scuderia currently sitting 21 points behind – while Nico Hulkenberg put in a stunning performance to take P4 for Haas.
AS IT HAPPENED: All the action from qualifying for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
There was to be no fairytale ending to Lewis Hamilton’s 246th and final qualifying appearance for Mercedes, meanwhile, the seven-time champion eliminated in Q1 after encountering plenty of traffic – and an errant plastic bollard – on his final run.
Enjoy the action from qualifying in the video above.
